A phobia can be very distressing and restricive for the sufferer, not only for the profound and seemingly inexplicable response to a particular thing or situation, but for the inability of others to really understand the true extent of the anxiety the affected person is experiencing.

The roots of the phobia are in the subconscious mind and it is for this reason that the conscious mind may be unaware of it until the feared stimulus or experience is experienced. The person does not know why they react the way they do and, more disturbingly for them, they don't know how to stop themselves reacting that way.

Do you sometimes fear the worst?

Yet treatment through hypnosis is very effective, quick, easy, gentle and generally takes two or three sessions; it does not usually require regression techniques, treatment is usually being based upon most patients' desire to move on to a new way of living. In some cases regression techniques are used to look for and deal with an earlier triggering event which may actually appear very trivial when viewed as an adult.

I just wanted to email you to say thank you. My life is so different now to before I saw you! I'm still a bit jumpy when there are pigeons flying at head height, but I'm so much more confident than I was and the closer I get to them the more confident I feel! I can't believe it. I didn't realise just how much of a restriction and a cause of upset my phobia had become and now I just feel free again. Thank you so much!"
